The initiative aims to help Facebook community leaders to turn ideas into action; develop their leadership skills; and enable them to make better use of Facebook’s tools to maximize their impact.

Selected participants will receive:

  • USD $50,000 investment into their initiative to extend their community’s positive impact.
  • Training and coaching sessions on community identity foundations, leading action-oriented programs, and sustainability among others.
  • Early access to new Facebook products to help communities better manage and activate their members.

Expected Outcomes

Participants of the Facebook Community Accelerator Program are expected to do the following:

Strengthen their communities: They will learn from experts, coaches, and a customized curriculum that will be implemented to help their communities work better.

Plan initiatives: They will identify an important initiative that will create a positive impact on the broader world and develop a plan to mobilize their community around their goal. Initiatives will be shared with potential partners, mentors, and a panel of judges for the chance to be awarded funding and receive public recognition.

Execute: Participants will spend three months executing their initiatives through collaboration with advocates and leaders in the community space. They will also get to work with the Facebook team to bring their ideas to life.

Kiran Yoliswa, partner management lead for the Middle East and Africa Community Partnerships at Facebook, says, “Facebook communities and their leaders are helping to resolve social challenges, sharing knowledge and information, while connecting with others that share their interests or passion for a cause.”

“We’ve seen so many incredible communities from across South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria using our platform to drive change and provide support and encouragement for thousands of people; we’re excited to offer their Facebook Community leaders this program to help amplify their impact even more,” concludes Yoliswa.
